Credit Requests

Credit requests are how a credit limit gets reviewed and changed – either because someone asked for one, or because an approval hit a limit and needs more room.

Before you start

Credit Request is optional per factor and needs permission to read both clients and debtors. If the menu item is missing, one of those is the reason.

The three kinds of request

The tabs across the top separate them:

  • Credit Check – a request to check or set a limit on a debtor, raised against a client/debtor relationship.
  • Debtor Request – a request to add a debtor that does not exist yet. If the debtor may already be in the system, the review shows Possible duplicate debtor found so you can connect the request to the existing debtor instead of creating a duplicate.
  • Internal Credit Request – raised by your own team rather than coming in from a client.

Working the queue

Use the Client / Broker toggle to pick whose requests you are looking at, then the list on the left to move between statuses:

  • Requested – waiting on you
  • Approved
  • Denied

Each row shows the company, the requested amount, who raised it, the debtor, the current credit limit and what is being asked for, so you can decide from the list in most cases.

Where requests come from

The most common route is the Approve for Funding screen. When a purchase would exceed a debtor's credit limit, the warning there offers Request Credit Increase, which lands here rather than forcing the approver to choose between blocking the funding and going over the limit.

Requests can also come from the client portal, and from your own team as internal requests.

After a decision

Approving updates the credit limit on the relationship, so the next funding attempt passes the check. Denying leaves the limit alone and records the decision.

Changing credit information directly on a company marks any pending override requests for that company as outdated – the app warns you when that is about to happen.
