The Accounting screen is the period view of your books – opening balances, what moved, and closing balances, for any date range you pick. It is the screen to reconcile from at month end.
Running it
- In the left-hand menu, click Accounting.
- Set Date Start and Date End.
- Click Filter.
Portfolio
The top section is the shape of the book, with Beginning Balance, Balance Change and Ending Balance for:
- AR – outstanding purchased receivables
- Escrow – held in escrow reserve
- Cash Reserve – client balances with you (can be negative)
- NFE – net funds employed, your actual exposure
Ledgers
Below that, each ledger is broken out with Total Debit, Total Credit and beginning and ending balances. This is where you check that a period's movement is what you expected – fees earned, escrow released, write-offs taken.
Exports
The Exports menu in the top-right downloads the period. Use it to hand figures to your accountant, or to tie back to what was pushed to QuickBooks.
If the numbers look wrong
- Check for backdated payments. A payment applied with a past date shows on the payment date in the Payments export but on the date it was recorded in the AR ledger. The two reports disagreeing is usually this, not an error.
- Check the date range covers whole days. Dates run in the factor's timezone, set under System Config.
- Check for manual transactions. They move balances between ledgers without any invoice activity behind them.
